Then realised also:

Nirvana - MTV Unplugged (posthumously, granted, but STILL)
and then think: Sonic Youth - Experimental Jet Set Trash and no star, Soundgarden - Superunknown. Tori Amos did something probably before she got, you know, PJ Harvey probably released something awesome....and Jeff Buckley released Grace, these things happened at this time!
And not forgetting:
Can we all just take a moment to live as if it's 1994. Off to listen to Ill Communication by The Beastie Boys. Also remember that in 1994, this hadn't happened yet.

2011, 2012, 1994, 2014. makes much more sense really.

Ah 1994, my first year at Leeds. I saw the Lion King five times in its opening week at the Odeon, which has since gone the way of Mufasa and the Titanic - I won't go into Primark 'cos it's just too painful. The Nightmare Before Christmas and Priscilla also stick out in my memory from that first term. Thanks for the reminder, Karl - happy days
